Support Julia Trigg Crawford!

What:

For those that don't know, Julia Trigg Crawford is the middle of a legal battle with TransCanada regarding the Keystone pipeline scheduled to go through our family farm. This tar sands pipeline running from Canada to the Houston area has been causing a lot of controversy both politically and environmentally. My family's case centers around the concept of eminent domain, the taking of property by a governmental entity for a project that benefits the public. We do not feel a foreign corporation that is building a pipeline for their profit qualifies as a common carrier and has the right to use eminent domain to take our land against our wishes. We are appealing the condemnation and taking of our land by TransCanada, and our case is now in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. Our fight has garnered national attention and support, and we are proud to use our case to stand for the property rights of landowners across Texas and the United States. Here are a few articles about our case from the past year:

One family fighting a legal battle against a huge foreign corporation is expensive, and people around the world are contributing money to our legal defense fund as we are funding our fight through donations. To stay in the game we are hosting a benefit concert at our 650 acre farm on April 20th with all proceeds going towards our legal defense fund. The Octopus Project has officially agreed to headline this music festival, and we have several other bands joining them to make it a full day's event. Tickets will be $20 presold online, and $25 at the gate. We will also offer camping out in the pasture Friday and Saturday nights for $10 per vehicle. We are working to get a couple food vendors, and will provide free clean, clear drinking water from our well, but you should consider this pretty much a big picnic and bring your own provisions. It will be a BYOB, and we strongly recommend you purchase your supplies before you come to the area, it is a long haul to any stores that sell food or alcohol. NO GLASS. NO DOGS. NO GUNS.

Besides that, both my mother and I want this to be a huge success, and hopefully the first of many, so if everyone could spend a few minutes inviting some people that you think would enjoy a fun filled weekend of farm life and music (rain or shine!) for a good cause I would greatly appreciate it. The address for Red Arc Farm is 690 CR 37500 Sumner, TX 75486 and is about two hours northeast of Dallas and backs up to the Red River off of Highway 79.
